OCTOBER MEETUP - Yarrow / Protection / The Wounded Healer / Witch’s Herbs
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25TH, 7-9pm
For the Folk is a monthly meetup and community space rooted in reconnection, collective care, and the necessity-based magic that often accompanies the magic of the people and the things we do.
This month, we will meet with the ancient plant ancestor Yarrow. We meet this plant in it’s many forms and faces - from understanding the healing, medicinal properties of Yarrow to understanding its magical properties as a healer, protector, and a component of our divination.
Please bring with you a mason jar with a lid.
This group meets on the second Sunday or third Sunday of each month. Each month focuses on a plant ancestor for learning, integrating community medicine, folk magic, and centering on informal transmission of knowledge to support reconnection to human and non-human ancestors.
All of these gatherings are led by the plant ancestors - where they want to take us, what they want to teach us, and how they want to show up for you.
Participants are encouraged to work with the plant throughout the month before our next meetup.
For the Folk is strictly anti-fascist, rooted in collective liberation, right relationship, and we continue to work to develop our tenants to support a variety of people in their unique journey.

Friday, October 23rd, 7:30-9:30 PM
While some believe haunted objects are portals – or traps – for sentient spirits, it’s also possible that our belief is what powers the paranormal phenomenon associated with these items. Thoughtforms, also called egregores, are spirits conjured from the actions, thoughts, and emotions of one or more people, typically over a prolonged period of time. They are manifestations of genuine paranormal activity, but the source is completely fabricated by the living. This begs the question – if we believe strongly enough that an object is haunted, can we make it haunted? Especially if we add ritual and magic?
Let’s put the theory to the test on Friday, October 23rd from 7:30PM – 9:30PM as we set out to make haunted dolls capable of mischief and mirth. A selection of dolls and figurines will be available for you to choose from. Our evening will begin with some history and theory before we dive into a ritual to conjure the spirit of your new friend.
